Established in 1999, the Pastel Painters of Maine (PPOM) promotes public awareness of pastels and creates a network for local and regional pastel artists. The general membership of PPOM meets quarterly with an educational program or artist demonstration. Other activities include paint-outs, paint-ins, retreats, workshops and exhibitions. We publish a newsletter several times a year and have a well-stocked lending library available to all PPOM members.

PPOM has grown to more than 120 members from Maine and across the U.S. and Canada. Our International Juried Exhibition “For Pastels Only,” an annual event since 2000, includes a workshop conducted by a nationally-known pastel artist who also judges the show. Members are invited to participate in annual non-juried member shows as well.
